2022 HAROLD D. SHEPARD ’66 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


Scholarship History:

The Harold D. Shepard Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Harold D. Shepard, an alumnus of Lane Technical College Prep High School class of 1966.  Upon graduating from Lane Tech, Harold attended DeVry University and then went on to work at IBM before starting his data processing and fulfillment company.  This scholarship is focused on providing financial assistance for an African-American male or female with an interest in technology or entrepreneurship.  Established 2017.

Scholarship Award:

$1,000 total award to one (1) student.

Criteria/Eligibility:

  • Lane Tech student with an expected Spring, 2023 graduation date who demonstrates academic rigor and financial need.

  • Priority will be given to African American students that demonstrate a passionate interest in technology or entrepreneurship.

  • The Fund has been established for the benefit of a high school senior.

  • It is the wish of the Donor that the Fund be used to fund one scholarship award annually.

  • Criteria for awarding the scholarships will be based 50% on academic accomplishment and 50% on need.

  • Acceptance to an accredited college or university.
