2022 WILLIAM M. KOEHLER ’50 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


Scholarship History:

William M. Koehler, class of ’50 has a long line of family members who attended Lane Tech, from his five brothers to three of his children, who graduated in the 1940’s and as recently as the 1980’s.  William valued education, balanced with a passion for excellence in athletics, especially football.  After Lane, he attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier, then Urbana-Champaign.  After graduating from U of I, he honorably served in the US Army (Korea).  This scholarship is founded in memory of William M. Koehler to help relieve the financial hardships of families with multiple college-age children, and to assist in their pursuit of advanced education following graduation from Lane.  Established in 2022.

Scholarship Award:
$2,500 as a one-time total award.

This scholarship will be awarded to one (1) graduating senior.

Criteria/Eligibility:

  1. Lane Tech student with an expected June 2022 graduation date.
  2. The scholarship award is based on scholastic ability, academic excellence, and financial need. 
  3. Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher
  4. Acceptance to a accredited trade school, community college, or four- year college/ university in Illinois (University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign preferred).
  5. Course or study in one of the following: Arts & Sciences/ Liberal Arts, Education, or Instrumental Music
  6. Standout athlete (football preferred if male athlete)
  7. Special Needs Criteria: Multiple college age siblings in College/ College- Bound. Multiple siblings at present attending Lane Tech.
