2024 Ronald J. Crouse ‘60 Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship History:

This scholarship was established in honor of Ronald Crouse ’60, Lane Tech alumnus, inventor, and entrepreneur.  Mr. Crouse instilled in everyone he met the importance of engineering and technology to our daily lives.  This was reinforced by his world-changing inventions in the Optical Electronics space, where Mr. Crouse was an early pioneer, holding dozens of patents that he successfully brought to market. His family has directed that the scholarship be awarded to a student pursuing an engineering or technical field of study through a conventional 4-year institution.  Established 2024. 

Scholarship Award:

$5,000 each year for four (4) years renewable each year provided that the student submits evidence of being a full-time student in good standing.

Requirements for renewal will include (but not be limited to) the following: Interview at the end of freshman year and good academic standing including requisite credit hours and a minimum 3.0 GPA

This scholarship will be awarded to one (1) graduating senior.


  • Lane Tech student with an expected Spring 2024 graduation date.

  • The scholarship award is based on scholastic ability and academic excellence.

  • Acceptance and confirmed intent to attend an accredited college or university.

  • Extracurricular involvement both inside and outside of Lane, including work experience.

  • Achieve an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Consideration will be given to financial need.
